Carroll defensive end Braydon Burnett envisioned playing football in the Big 12. Now, he will realize that dream.
One of the most celebrated recruits in school history gave an oral commitment to Missouri last week. Oral commitments are non-binding. The first day a recruit can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 4, 2009.
Burnett (6-3, 240) chose Missouri over Michigan, Colorado, Arizona State, Arkansas and California.
"You can really see where Missouri is becoming more and more successful," Burnett said. "I just felt there was a fit between me and the guys and the coaches."
Burnett will join two other Carroll players up there. Quarterback Chase Daniel was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2007 and led the Tigers to a 12-2 record and Cotton Bowl victory. Mike Prince is a reserve offensive lineman.
Burnett considered about 25 offers. He also had other Big 12 offers from Kansas and Iowa State. He had slight interest in Texas A&M.
Burnett was scheduled to take visits to many schools this summer. However, once he said he felt at peace with the decision, he canceled the others.
