Dear Editor,

I was not surprised by being attacked and accused of being someone benefiting from pornography. The writer similarly criticizes the Southlake Journal for its recent article, "Council Eyes Web Filter Plan; Critics Point to Censorship, Technology Problems."

Character assignation is the oft-used tactic of single-minded zealots in opposition to an intolerable alternate opinion. In this case, it was used to divert attention for any support of the First Amendment.

I still stand in my defense of the First Amendment Right of Free Speech, my opposition to pornography, and my support of family values as the answer, as clearly stated in my original document (see Letter to the Editor, online, May 5).
