Southlake Changes Utility Bills

Staff Report

The Journal

Southlake utility bills got a facelift this week that city officials say will be easier to read and more efficient.

Utility customers will notice the new layout over the next few months as the city launches new billing software.

The system went live Monday and handles the city’s finance, human resources and utility billing departments.

The new water bill will look more like an electric bill, with a history of water usage that enables customers to better understand their bill.

With the new system, commercial customers who have more than one account can consolidate the statements into one bill.

Eventually the city will be able to take credit card payments, and by next year the expects to move to online bill-pay, said Sean Leonard, deputy director of financial operations.

For now, bills can be mailed to the Utility Billing Division, 1400 Main St. Suite 200 or dropped off in person.

Payments can also be placed in the drop box in the breezeway north of Town Hall.
