Southlake Winner Heads for Miss Texas Pageant
The Miss Texas Organization announced that Ashley Melnick will compete in the 2008 Miss Texas Pageant, which will be at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 5 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth.
Melnick was selected to represent Southlake in the pageant after her win at the Miss Southlake Scholarship Pageant, back in January. The winner of the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant will receive a $10,000 cash scholarship to the college or university of her choice.
Melnick is a graduate of Carroll Senior High School and began competing in area pageants in 2008. Her service platform is The Voice of Autism. She chose this platform because her older brother is autistic. She wants to educate others about autism as well as the needs of those with autism.
Tickets for the preliminary competitions on July 1 to 3 and the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant on July 5 can be obtained by contacting the central ticket office at www.centralticketoffice.com or by phone at 817-335-9000.
Heather Henrichson will compete in the 2008 Miss Teen Texas Pageant, also at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth. Henrichson is a student at Brook Hill High School in Bullard and began competing in area pageants in 2008. Her service platform is S.T.A.R.T. – Stand Tall and Resist Temptation. She chose this platform because of her own struggle with weight issues and being made fun of by her peers.
