Kudos to One of Our Own

Larre’s Corner

Southlake Chick-fil-A operator Mark Guibert is known for his many generous donations to the community, such as providing a free lunch to every person on the Carroll school district payroll in honor of Teacher’s Appreciation Week. Or each month, providing students who have demonstrated a specific positive character trait a free kid’s meal rewarded by their teacher. And let’s not forget, he did purchase the first cow and calf for the Southlake Stampede, which he proudly donated to Johnson Elementary students to decorate, before displaying it in front of his restaurant on Southlake Boulevard.

Now this wonderful community supporter can add recipient of the highest sales award that Chick-fil-A has for franchise operators across the country, the Symbol of Success Award, to his list. As they say, just the acknowledgement of hard work is heartwarming enough, but hey, this award came with a title to a Ford Explorer!

Mr. Guibert, we thank you for your many years of making a difference in our community, and we applaud you as you are recognized for your very hard work.

Calling all you General Hospital fans, this Friday, June 13. The man who played Dr. Noah Drake — also known as platinum-selling pop star Rick Springfield — will be rocking down the house over at Glass Cactus Nightclub at the Gaylord Texan Resort as part of their "Summer Nights" Concert Series taking place now through Aug. 31.

The Gaylord is again celebrating the season with its SummerFest 2008.

The events — all inside at a cool 72 degrees — include strolling musicians, magicians, face painters, jugglers, balloon artists, the "Gold Cowboy," a monkey show, Lady Grapevine, caricaturists and more.
